Standard Event

Also known as: Pixel Event, Conversion Event

A standard event is a predefined action the Meta Pixel can track, such as Lead, Purchase, AddToCart, or CompleteRegistration.

What it actually means

Standard events are Meta's library of named actions that the pixel and Conversions API recognize out of the box — Lead, Purchase, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, Schedule, and more. Using the correct standard event for your key conversion lets Meta's algorithm optimize toward it and lets you build matching custom audiences. Firing the wrong event, or no event at all, leaves the algorithm guessing and breaks reporting. Standard events can carry parameters like value and currency, which is what makes ROAS measurable. For actions Meta doesn't have a name for, you can define custom events, but standard events should always be your first choice because the whole system is built to understand them.

For a local business

A local service business should fire the Lead event the moment a form is submitted or a call button is tapped — that single event drives optimization and reporting.
