Funnel & Conversion

Marketing Funnel

Also known as: Sales Funnel, Conversion Funnel

A marketing funnel is the staged path from stranger to customer — awareness, consideration, conversion — with fewer people at each step down.

What it actually means

The funnel is the mental model behind almost every campaign structure: many people become aware of you, fewer consider you, fewer still convert, and the shape narrows like a funnel. Its practical value is diagnostic and organizational. Cold prospecting fills the top; retargeting works the middle; strong offers and frictionless forms close the bottom — and each stage wants different messaging, because a stranger and a returning visitor need different things said to them. When results disappoint, funnel thinking locates the leak: plenty of clicks but no leads points at the landing page, plenty of leads but no sales points at follow-up. Fixing the right stage beats spending more on the wrong one.

For a local business

A local business funnel can be simple: an awareness ad introduces the shop, a retargeting ad offers a first-visit deal, and a fast follow-up closes the booking. Three stages, one customer journey.
